This Morning Outside

I've been thinking I really should go out and pull up those spent flower stalks in my garden. You know, tidy up the yard. But during a snowstorm, I watched American goldfinches hanging out on the dried seedheads.

I can't even remember what flowers those were last summer, but the goldfinches seemed to find the seeds very tasty. There's something to be said for leaving a bit of unkempt in the garden.
