Prominar TSN-823
In Kowa's TSN-823 Prominar, they went for a slightly oversized
objective lens of 82mm, thus increasing light transmission by 13% over
their old 77mm scopes.
The scope has a peep sight on its right side and a pullout
sunshade. It's well sealed, nitrogen purged, and waterproof, with a high-impact
polycarbonate body. A hard screw-on lens cap protects the whole eyepiece
assembly with a rigid plastic cap. The lens cap screws on also, so the
scope is suitable for carrying around.
Our judges deemed it on the large and heavy side. Maybe
full-bodied is the word for it, with its large prism housing. However,
the optical quality is excellent, and it is a good scope for the price.
The 20-60x zoom eyepiece has good eye relief for glasses
wearers, at least at 20x. It is not so usable at higher magnification.
