Answers to questions from real people with real questions about how to choose a binocular.
Situation: I want top-notch binoculars that work well with glasses.
But I insist on 10 power!
Advice: Only a few binoculars in the world do what you are asking. They do not come cheap.
We think the very best
10x42 binoculars in the world for people with glasses are the Zeiss Victory FL. This is a superb binocular, with a wider field of view than most 10-power binoculars. You cannot buy better optics.
Situation: OK, I just want the best optics that money can buy, with light weight, and I want good eye relief, and the binocular must have very close focus ability, for butterfly watching.
Advice: You want it all, don't you? Well, since we're on the subject of the Zeiss Victory FL, it does fulfill all of your requirements.
We both love this binocular. When we took
a break from testing binoculars and wanted to go for a walk, with over 100 binoculars to choose among, we
both reached for a Zeiss Victory FL.
It
comes in full-size models, 10x42, 8x42, 7x42. They're all terrific.
It's now also available in 10x32 and 8x32, which are a lot smaller than the full-size models, but still astoundingly bright. The great advantage to these mid-sized Zeiss Victorys is their size. They're so small you'll take them with you on occasions when the full-sized binoculars get left behind. For many world travelers, this is the answer. The 8x32 is really quite good with glasses.
