This Morning Outside

by Diane Porter

January 13, 2021
Fairfield, Iowa

In snowy parts of eastern US, many bluebirds go south for the winter. But a few linger through the coldest months, living mostly on wild fruits in the woods. That's why I like to preserve and plant native trees that make winter food for birds.

It was a cold morning, but this female bluebird looked me in the face and warmed me up and melted me down.
