This Morning Outside

by Diane Porter

November 22, 2017
Evergreen Cemetery
Fairfield, Iowa

An old city cemetery with ancient trees can be a GREAT place to watch birds.

The Red-breasted Nuthatch flips upside-down and does an impossibly deep back bend. He receives the jubilant admiration of spruce trees. And the prize? The gold medallion — a flat seed, slipped from between the scales of an opening cone.

Happy Thanksgiving!
