This Morning Outside

Five Ruby-throated Hummingbirds zizzed around me in the Coral Nymph salvia. Every one of them wanted exclusive rights to the whole patch of blossoms.

They smacked into each other, their wings clashing like the sound of cards shuffling, but faster and sharper. I think no harm came to any. They didn't even slow down.

This may be my last hummingbird image of the year. Each day that I still find them is a gift. Gift of the Coral Nymph.
