A House Wren gazes upward with such yearning in its eye that I'm tempted to credit the bird with a capacity for philosophy.

Nesting is winding down for House Wrens now, so they aren't singing much any more. They still make a person feel cheerful when the little brown birds come to visit the birdbath.
