This Morning Outside

There is a field near Birmingham, Iowa, where we go to see Bobolinks every May. On a recent May Saturday, this Savannah Sparrow was perched on a fencepost beside that field.

It looks quite a bit like a Song Sparrow. The easiest way to tell the two species apart is by the eyebrow.

See how yellowish it is? Savannah!
