This Morning Outside

Chipping Sparrows look to me as if they're smiling at some little joke. However, from their songs I think they must be solid, steady fellows. Listen how even this trill is. Both the pitch and the tempo hold fast throughout the song.

You'll hear some other birds singing in the background, because the air is aflutter with song on an April morning in Iowa. But you'll pick out the metronomic beat of the Chippy.
