This Morning Outsideby Diane PorterJuly 17, 2015 Bell's Vireo sings as the sun sets on a thickly humid day in July. He's so inconspicuous no one but a birder would ever notice him, were it not for his amazing song. Scratchy, loud, and insistent, it seems to ask a question, with a rising inflection, and emphatically answer it. Again and again. The question-and-answer bird. Playing now in a shrubby field near you.
