This Morning Outsideby Diane PorterDec. 6, 2014 Some sparrows lose their bright colors in winter, and if they have a reddish crown it turns brown or striped. But not the American Tree Sparrow. All year around, this small sparrow beams out warm photons. And not just from the top of the head, but also in an intricate line that wanders back from the eye. And the wing feathers are all laced through with rusty. Since I get to see this bird only in winter, I appreciate that.
