This Morning Outside

Color is such a surprising phenomenon. I mean, if I were a fantasy-fiction writer in a black-and-white universe, I can't imagine I would ever think up color. Let alone describe it.

All color seems intrinsically lovely, as if made to give pleasure, but to me the best and greatest of all colors is blue. And the best and greatest blues in the world must be found in the wing of the blue jay.
