This Morning Outside

Most winters, I see two or three white-crowned sparrows around my property. But not this winter.

So it made giddy with pleasure to come face to face with one in the woods this morning, the first white-crown I've seen this year. Don't its powerful black-and-white head stripes play well against luscious green spring?
