This Morning Outside

A female eastern towhee is brown wherever the male is black. One showed up this morning under my hanging bird feeders.

Towhees like to eat on the ground, and she was not into clinging to a feeder that was swinging in the wind. Instead, she stood below the feeders and cocked her head to watch for the goldfinches and chickadees who might be about to knock down stray bits of food.
