This Morning Outsideby Diane PorterOctober 24, 2013 Walk awake in a Midwestern grassy field on a chilly October day like today, and you might catch a glimpse of a shy and elusive Le Conte's sparrow. This colorful species is passing through, though you'd never know it unless you, well, went walking awake in a grassy field. I couldn't believe my luck when this one paused long enough for me to photograph it. —Diane Porter
