This Morning Outsideby Diane PorterJune 1, 2013 It is the time of the little black biting flies, or buffalo gnats. Birds and garden pulls me outdoors, and the pesky bites on my hands and ears push me back inside. To the rescue, flycatchers of every ilk! Even if the eastern wood-pewee were not smoothly beautiful and hauntingly musical (play its song), I would love it for the way it flashes out from a perch and nabs the tiny black monsters out of the air. Eat em up, Pewee, my friend.
