This Morning Outside

by Diane Porter

May 28, 2013
Lake Sugema
Keosauqua, Iowa

Jes trollin along in a jonboat, slow as lazy water, and a great blue heron stalks beside us, about 15 feet to the left. Heron lowers head to slip slo-mo under low branches. Plucks up a fish. Swallows it and keeps on stalking. I like this feeling of being a piece of nature.
