This Morning Outside

Couple of male lesser scaups on the pond this morning. Here is one of them. The close-set wavy lines on this duck's back are usually described as "vermiculated." If you didn't get a close look, you'd think the back was simply grey.

Vermiculated has got to be one of my favorite words. Doesn't it tickle your mouth? Isn't it almost a one-word poem?
