This Morning Outside

How I wonder why the field sparrow has pink feet and a pink bill. It's fancy. It's cheering. How lovely, now that spring has come, to see those surprising spots  of color. And to hear again a sweet, slender song, quavering higher and faster to a vanishing trill. And how my heart rises with it.
