We have lots of sparrows in Iowa -- field sparrows, chipping sparrows, grasshopper sparrows, among others. But sparrows go south for the winter. Which is why I love the wonderful American tree sparrow. It does go south for the winter, from its Artic breeding grounds, but my icy Iowa back yard seems to be south enough for it!
