This Morning Outside

Strawberry-bibbed, the rose-breasted grosbeak perches quietly among the leaves of a redbud tree. It's surprising how easy it is to overlook a bird wearing such a bright badge, at least when he's up in the trees. This is a very common bird in Iowa and northeastern US. Yet many people don't realize they have rose-breasted grosbeaks nesting in their own backyards.
