This Morning Outside

A couple of dozen species of warblers pass through Iowa every spring, but only a handful remain to nest. In the closing days of May, most of the warblers are already gone.

But the woods still resound with the loud, sweet song of the yellow warbler. Brilliant gold from head to tail, with red stripes on his breast, he's one of the brightest and loveliest birds in the woods.
