This Morning Outside

His song starts with a small explosion and ends with a pop. To me, he wears a look of perpetual surprise, maybe because of his eye's white iris.

White-eyed vireos are common, some places, like Florida, but unusual in Iowa. I was tickled to find one this morning in my own back yard.

They won't come to feeders. They want trees, and plenty of them.
