This Morning Outside

For a few weeks in fall, during their migration through Iowa, white-throated sparrows are the quiver in every bush. And the woods are full of their high, whispery whistles. It's a haunting song, often transcribed into English as Old, Sam, Peabody Peabody Peabody.
