At the wetland near Birdwatching Dot Com
Fairfield, Iowa

Ohio Buckeye butterfly stops by the wetland. It perches on a smartweed blossom whose colors pick up the delicate shading in the the large "eyes" on the hind wings.

This individual is nice and fresh, with wings intact and not torn. Those two orange bars on the forewing are distinctive.
