March of the Ducks

If you want to see a lot of different kind of ducks, and you're in the Midwest, March is the month. Go to the lake, pond, or reservoir this month, and you will see ducks.

Today several ring-necked ducks floated nonchalantly in the wetland, as if there were nothing remarkable about their appearance here just days after the ice melted. They ought to be called ring-billed ducks, for the dramatic white ring around the bill, instead of the virtually invisible faint line around the neck.
