Steller's Jay
Dawn Eason, of Hollister, California, sent us this beautiful photo of a Steller's Jay. She photographed it at Pinnacles National Monument Park, in Paicines, California. Dawn has kindly given us permission to share the picture here. In western mountains, the raucus calls of Steller's Jays are distinctive, familiar sounds. To anyone familiar with them, their voices immediately evoke the conifers where they are found. It's a lot of fun to learn birds' sounds so that you can know which birds are around even before you actually see one. LINKS |
