Are you a beginning birdwatcher in any of these states? If so, check here and see if there's a book just for you.

For the books on Iowa, Minnesota, and Missouri, you'll learn facts and tidbits about the birds that live in your backyard and how to attract them. A friendly, conversational, style is like a friend talking to you. Learn what to look for in your state during spring, summer, fall, and winter. These are from Bird Watcher's Digest. They're very friendly books. (Birdwatching Dot Com's own Diane Porter is co-author of the Iowa book.)

Books in the second row are pocket-sized books from National Geographic Society. Each has 125 to 190 must-see birds from each state or region. Although the books do not include all the species found in each state, they do capture the flavor of their states and show the most outstanding species.

The Texas book is a classic by Roger Tory Peterson.

And below are some other good source books about wild birds.
