This Morning Outside

by Diane Porter

June 18, 2010
Near a wetland at Birdwatching Dot Com
Fairfield, Iowa

In the middle of a summer day, sometimes the best birdwatching around is dragonflies. So when birds hide in the coolness of the forest canopy, I turn my binoculars on colorful flying creatures who seem to love being out in the noonday sun. Like this jewel-green female Eastern Pondhawk.
