This Morning Outside

by Diane Porter

May 9, 2010
At Birdwatching Dot Com
Fairfield, Iowa

On this frosty May morning, both male and female Baltimore Orioles were my guests at the Grape Jelly Cafe, where I am proprietor and waitress. The feeder is the Oriole Grape Jelly Cafe.

Baltimore Orioles

I filled the dish with Birdberry Jelly. I like to use because it includes sugar, which is what orioles, as big fruit eaters, need, but no corn syrup (which is not so good for people, either, I understand).

I've tried before to attract orioles with grape jelly, but this time, with the Birdberry Jelly, was the first time the orioles have come back after the first taste. And it seemed like they really liked it a lot!
