This Morning Outside

by Diane Porter

May 3, 2010
At Birdwatching Dot Com
Fairfield, Iowa

On Saturday the columbine buds opened...and on Sunday evening the first Ruby-throated Hummingbird appeared to drink the nectar. A bright-throated male. I quickly filled a feeder with sugar water, and now there are two hummers competing over it. Here one of the males is resting on the peony support.
